The city of Chester in the northwest of the UK is one of 10 man-made structures that meet the “golden ratio” standard of architectural art.
Specifically, the scientists conducted a scan of the entire facade of each building, each street in the proposed locations to get data to calculate the “shortest and longest spatial ratio”.
This ratio is compared with the golden ratio (1:1.618) to see how much the similarity is. It is known that objects possessing the golden ratio are considered perfect and have an indisputable beauty.
Since then, they have created a list of cities with the “golden ratio” above.
1. Chester, UK – 83.7%
Rated as the most beautiful city in the world. The works are built according to the golden ratio with coverage up to 84%.
2. Venice, Italy – 83.3%
A tourist destination not to be missed when visiting Italy. The city of Venice attracts tourists with its long historical value, poetic scenery and not to mention its top-notch architecture, reaching 83% of the golden ratio.
3. London, UK – 83%
The capital of the United Kingdom ranks third with ancient buildings. Owning St Paul’s Cathedral – the most beautiful building in the world, the city of London reaches 72.28% of the golden ratio.
4. Belfast, UK – 82.9%
Another name from the UK. Belfast – the capital of Ireland – comes in 4th place with 82.9% golden ratio.
5. Rome, Italy – 82%
Possessing a long historical value, as one of the first cities in the world, Rome brings a sense of antiquity and aristocracy. With 82% of the golden ratio, Rome is in 5th place.
6. Barcelona, Spain – 81.9%
6th place belongs to the city of Barcelona. The Sagrada Familia is an iconic work of international stature.
