Recently, a shocking information was published by Business Insider and the New York Post (quoting the Association of Responsible Physicians – PCRM). That is, 15 out of 23 monkeys implanted with the Neuralink brain chip of billionaire Elon Musk died in experiments lasting from 2017 to 2020.
It is known that Neuralink is a project that integrates the human brain and AI (artificial intelligence). At the heart of this research is trying to develop a small coin-sized chip that can be implanted in the human brain. This chip is made of microscopic mesh fibers with electrodes attached to detect neurons. These mesh fibers will then be inserted into the human brain via a super mini robot.
When active, electrodes in the mesh fibers will receive information from the brain and transfer it to a small chip placed behind the ear. This chip continues to connect to another wearable device. This device can be configured through a smartphone app.
To be able to test on humans, Neuralink first used monkeys as an experimental host for many years. As PCRM reports, many monkeys have died in Neuralink’s experiments. Some of them even experienced extreme pain before they died. PCRM considers this experiment to be inhumane and contains nine violations of the Animal Welfare Act. Accordingly, PCRM filed a complaint with the US Department of Agriculture on February 10 and asked Neuralink to stop testing immediately.
Currently, PCRM’s complaint has been reviewed by US authorities.
