A special gift from VinFuture Foundation
With A-list Hollywood stars and attractive content, the trilogy of Gravity, Interstellar, and The Current War are the names in the top of the best science films in recent years. At VinFuture International Science and Technology Film Week, VinFuture Foundation will bring 25,000 movie tickets for Vietnamese audiences to enjoy these blockbusters for free.
Gravity starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney takes viewers into the endless space with the journey to find life of the unfortunate astronauts drifting in space. Although labeled as science fiction, Gravity gives the audience a realistic and scientific universe. Historically, not many films have been able to do the same, aside from Alien (1973) and A Space Odyssey (1968).
Gravity was highly appreciated by both audiences and critics with 10 Oscar nominations, including important nominations such as: Best Picture, Best Director (Alfonso Cuaron) and Best Actor (Sandra Bullock). and 4 Golden Globe Award nominations.
Movie fans certainly do not want to miss Interstellar – the work of famous filmmaker Christopher Nolan, who is too familiar with The Prestige, Inception, especially The Dark Knight. Interstellar is the journey of a group of astronauts. A team led by Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) travels through space to enter another galaxy, in search of life. Integrating in the exciting and unexpected space journey is a touching story about father and son love. Interstellar is therefore considered one of the best films of 2014. After 8 years, Vietnamese audiences have the opportunity to meet again the stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway at a special VinFuture event.
The third name on the list is The Current War. The film is set in the 19th century with the great confrontation between two pioneering scientists in the field of electricity, Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse. If Edison favored direct current, Westinghouse chose alternating current, thereby bringing viewers to a dramatic “battle of light”. In 6 days (December 6-11), movie enthusiasts can go to the CGV system at Vincom shopping centers across the country to live in the fantasy journeys that have captivated millions of viewers around the world.
Spread the meaningful message of science
It is no coincidence that the VinFuture Foundation selected three famous films for the VinFuture International Science and Technology Film Week – the opening event for the second VinFuture Science and Technology Week taking place from 17 to 21/. 12/2022.
Hidden in Gravity, Interstellar, The Current War are meaningful scientific messages. With Gravity, the journey to find life seemed impossible at first, but was still successfully conquered by humans in the end. “Believe in the impossible” is the message the audience feels from Gravity. That is also the starting point, the truth for those who have been pursuing the arduous scientific path.
Interstellar is again a reminder to the world: When facing survival, people must unite, use science as the key to save their own future. Or, The Current War makes many people realize, science is not hard, boring and encapsulated in a laboratory. Science can also be dramatic battles and bring about great results, helping to change people’s lives.
The meaningful message in each film has a lot in common with VinFuture – the award honors scientific researches, inventions and technological innovations, helping to solve common challenges of mankind.
Right in the first season, VinFuture has partly shown these meaningful pieces. It is the journey of overcoming difficulties to persevere in pursuing mRNA technology of female professor Katalin Kariko – the first season VinFuture Main Prize winner. That’s when science became the key to reducing the burden of AIDS in developing countries, offering hope for the development of artificial electronic skin with the ability to move and feel like human skin…
With that pervasiveness, not only researchers, the public is also waiting for VinFuture season 2 with the theme “Revival and Reconstruction”. This year, nearly 1,000 scientific and technological research projects from 71 countries on 6 continents were nominated, far exceeding the number of 599 nominations in the first season. These projects have undergone a rigorous multi-round evaluation process by 12 members of the Preliminary Committee and 11 members of the Award Committee, including scientists with high influence in academia and research. and innovation globally.
As planned, the VinFuture 2022 award ceremony will take place on December 20, 2022 – International Day of Human Solidarity and also the founding date of the VinFuture Foundation.
