Counterattack Shield (Annie’s Core Hero)
In season 8, Annie was designed to be a tank in the Mage lineup. However, the Hero Core of this champion proved to be too weak when it did not increase the rigidity or versatility of Annie. The Reflect Shield Core is only really effective after Annie is upgraded to 3 stars with full equipment.
Annie’s Reflect Shield Core rarely works
So in season 8.5, this upgrade was removed and replaced with the Inferno core. This upgrade gives Annie’s skills a greater range and stuns opponents for 1.5 seconds. Basically, Burning Fire will increase Annie’s versatility and help the player’s squad immediately strengthen.
Twisted Hook (Kai’Sa’s Support Hero Core)
In essence, the Crooked Bug doesn’t have such a bad power. However, with other Special Forces champions like Ezreal, Vayne is strong in dealing damage with skills. As a result, the attack speed stat provided to allies from this core is not maximized effectively.
Upgrading the Hook is not really suitable for the Special Forces lineup in season 8
In season 8.5, this upgrade was removed and replaced with the core of the Scouting Squad. This upgrade helps the 2 champions closest to Kai’Sa receive 40% chance to crit and damage from the skill can crit. This is an extremely powerful effect and can help Kai’Sa support many main forms in the upcoming season 8.5.
Ultimate Strength (Syndra’s Core Hero)
The idea of Riot Games when creating the Ultimate Strength core is to help the champions put on the field by Syndra can “carry the team”. However, when season 8 took place, players used Syndra to bring tanky or multi-purpose champions into the field. This makes the attack stats from the Ultimate Strength core not very effective.

So Riot removed this upgrade in season 8.5 and gave Syndra a new Hero Core called Useful Sacrifice. Specifically, when an allied champion is defeated, Syndra will gain 30 mana and 40% attack speed. This allows Syndra to cast spells more often and bring a lot of units from the queue into the field. This promises to be a very strong upgrade for Syndra in the mid-season update.
