The following is a list of the 5 best PlayStation games of 2022, compiled by the prestigious statistical site Metacritic.
1. Elden Ring
Average score: 96/100
Elden Ring is an action role-playing blockbuster developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game is a collaboration between Dark Souls director Hidetaka Miyazaki and novelist George RR Martin – the “father” of Game of Thrones.
Elden Ring is set in the fantasy kingdom Lands Between, a time after the Elden Ring is destroyed and its fragments, known as the Great Rune, are scattered everywhere. As a Tarnished – exile from the Lands Between, you will have to travel across the kingdom in search of the Great Runes, restore the Elden Ring and become Elden Lord.
2. God of War Ragnarok
Average score: 94/100
After 4 years since his journey in Northern Europe, Kratos will return to us in the new version of God of War Ragnarok.
God of War at Sony Santa Monica, Cory Barlog likened the team’s work on God of War Ragnarok to what Peter Jackson did with the Lord of the Rings trilogy. To convey the full story of JRR Tolkien, perhaps 3 movies are completely not enough. However, Peter Jackson cleverly turned it into a complete story with a tight beginning and end. According to Barlog, it is “absolute roundness”.
3. Persona 5 Royal
Average score: 91/100
Persona 5 Royal – One of the great role-playing games that any gamer should play if they own a PS5. Student life is enhanced with the 3rd semester, (content not mentioned in the previous game). A new character emerges, pivotal in uncovering new, deep mysteries. And of course new powerful enemies.
4. The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe
Average score: 89/100
4 years after the release of the first version, The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe will be the sequel that brings players to one of the most confusing, abstract games in the gaming world.
In the game, the player will play the role of Stanley but may not play the role of Stanley. You are the one who makes the choice but also the one who loses the choice. The game will end, but it may also never end. Contradiction after contradiction, secrets piled on secrets, sometimes confusing you is the attraction of this game.
5. Horizon Forbidden West
Average score: 88/100
The innovations and creations in Forbidden West are enough to make a new game more compelling and convincing, while not being too far from what made gamers love part 1. It’s engaging enough to keep fans interested. The tomb of the role-playing game series takes 60 to 70 hours just to complete every challenge, every mission in the game. If gamers love part 1, fascinated by Aloy’s journey in Zero Dawn, then there is no reason to skip part 2.
