Purple Hyacinth is the perfect combination of detective genre, romance, mystery and a little bit of the supernatural. This Webtoon series follows Lauren Sinclair, a police officer with a special ability to detect lies.
Ironically, Lauren has to team up with a notorious assassin to overthrow the criminal organization they both confront. A plus point of this series is the beautiful drawing, and can satisfy both male and female readers – something very few Webtoon series can do.
2. Garden Club Detective Squad
Garden Club Detective Squad is a series of comics with attractive detective elements by the author team 52chu and LICO. The series first launched in 2019, quickly attracting a lot of readers.
Unlike most of the rest of the series on this list, Garden Club Detective Squad has quite bright, funny and not too serious content. Gardening and solving cases that seem to have nothing to do with each other is a new and strange combination that readers will encounter in this series.
3. Vengeance (Revenge)
Vengeance is a Webtoon series of mystery and detective genre by author Aji, aimed at adult readers. Police officer Seolah is the main character in this story. She is a person with a cool head, rational judgment. After witnessing the tragic murder of her girlfriend as a victim, she gradually becomes obsessed with the case and finds ways to avenge the one she loves.
Vengeance is a rather dark, tragic series that makes readers experience many different emotions. However, the detective element in the story is still quite attractive to keep readers.
Pigpen is a dark, horror and dramatic manhwa series by the team of writers Beomsik Cheon and Carnby Kim (who wrote Sweet Home and Bastard). The story begins with a man who wakes up on the beach, with no memory and no idea why he is there. He tries to remember what happened to him in the past, accidentally meeting a strange family with many dark secrets.
5. An Uncomfotable Truth
An Uncomfotable Truth, composed by artist EErun, is a detective and mysterious manhwa aimed at an adult audience. The story revolves around Yoseob, a quiet boy of school age, who is convicted of assaulting and stabbing 8 people.
No one knows that Yoseob committed the crime himself, or that his brother was also involved in what happened. But, the biggest question the people around him asked was why did he do that, and there was no answer.
6. Chasing Tails
Chasing Tails is a detective, mystery and horror manhwa series by author Bashi. Nine students were trapped in a collapsed building for 14 days. Unfortunately, only six people survived, of which only four were still able to speak.
Unexpectedly, the police discovered later that the bodies of the deceased students showed signs of crime. Inspectors Jeongdo Kwon and Yeongchae Shin, along with a neurologist Yeonghwa Ju, try to solve this case, to discover what really happened to the unfortunate students.
7. Melvina’s Therapy
This Webtoon series revolves around Melvina, a psychotherapist with controversial therapies. Normally, psychologists will treat patients by talking or prescribing medication for them. However, Melvina did not pursue such conventional methods. Melvina is only attracted by complexity, mystery and difficult “cases”. She often looks for hidden corners in other people’s minds and exploits them.
Melvina’s Therapy is quite unique because it is not only a regular detective and crime series, but also pursues mysteries in psychology and criminology in general. If you are a fan of this genre, then Melvina’s Therapy is a Webtoon series you cannot miss.
