These works were named by people in the Korean entertainment, media, and filmmaking industries in the worst movie rankings of 2023.
Continuing the list of the best actors and films of 2023, Joynews24 recently continued to announce the ranking of disaster Korean television series of the year. This list is compiled after a survey of 200 people in the Korean entertainment, media, journalism and film industries.
1. Durian’s Affair
Durian’s Affair was the first film to be named with a total of 37 votes. The film was called “the station’s shame” by Joynews24 because the script was overly elaborate to the point of being offensive. The peak of the controversy was the story of the daughter-in-law having feelings for and often flirting with… her mother-in-law.
2. Survival War
It is expected to be a new generation Penthouse, but in reality, Survival War is just a “trying to fight and eat sticky rice” scenario, filled with absurd details. The brainchild of screenwriter Kim Soon Ok received countless criticisms, and was even asked by Korean netizens to… ban the show. The film received 26 votes in this poll.
3. The Real Be Come
Ranked 3rd with 23 votes is KBS’s The Real Be Come. The reason the film was rated poorly is because of the unconvincing acting of male lead Ahn Jae Hyun, who was not originally the male lead of this work.
4. Boxing Love Story
13 votes is the number that Boxing Love Story received. Right from the time it aired, the movie was not expected by the audience due to female lead Kim So Hye’s school violence scandal. When it aired, the movie received very low ratings because the script was too boring and the female lead was unattractive.
5. The Art of Demon Hunting and Noodle Cooking 2
The Art of Hunting Demons and Cooking Noodles 2 was once the most anticipated work of 2023 due to the resounding success of part 1. Unfortunately, the script for part 2 has too many holes. In addition, changing the production crew from OCN to tvN also caused this work to lose its quality. The film received 10 votes in the poll.
6 – 7. King the Land – Pandora
Also receiving 8 votes were the two films King the Land and Pandora: Below Heaven. Both of these films are considered to have bad scripts and are not worthy of the actors. Although King the Land is classified as a “blockbuster rating” of JTBC this year, that is not proportional to the quality of the film.
