Microsoft has teamed up with the National Foundation for Historic Preservation to recreate the Corfe castle in Minecraft in an educational project.
Although the game Minecraft is a famous game, its educational effect really cannot be underestimated. Many schools have used this game as a learning tool, while governmental and non-governmental organizations use it for their own purposes, such as the recent French Presidential election.

Now, Mojang brings Minecraft back to serve a brand new educational project by recreating Corfe fortress in Dorset, England in the game. A product of cooperation with the National Foundation for Historic Preservation (UK), this is part of the Archaeological Festival organized by this fund.
Xbox says it wants to not only recreate Fort Corfe today, but also “restore to its former glory” with the help of historian Alice Loxton and YouTuber GrianMC. Minecraft gamers will log into the Xbox server and build this castle, aiming to help young people learn more about the history of England through the game.
In addition to Minecraft, many other games have also been used for educational purposes. In addition to spontaneous phenomena like Half-Life Alyx used to teach math, there are also software created by developers such as Discovery Tour mode for their Assassin’s Creed games, or This War of Mine was included in the Polish high school curriculum by the Polish Ministry of Education.
