The girl was only served 1 bottle of filtered water when ordering a vegetarian meal on a flight longer than 10 hours, she thought she was scammed.
Miriam Porter, a travel blogger with a vegan lifestyle, flew from Toronto (Cananda) to Frankfurt (Germany) on August 6 with Air Canada.
Miriam shared on her social network with mournful icons about the two “meals” she was served during 10 hours on the plane. The first meal is a bottle of filtered water, the second meal is… a napkin.
Too surprised and thought she was being cheated, Miriam complained to the flight attendant. After a long wait, the flight attendant finally brought the food, but it was only a Business class leftover and not the standard meal that Miriam had ordered in advance.
Miriam shared in her vlog:
“My goodness, they finally brought me some salad and fruit.”
A representative of Air Canada confirmed that they can provide a wide selection of meals, for all ticket classes: vegetarian dishes, dishes, special meals for people with chronic diseases, diabetes, …
“We always serve a full range of special meals according to the requirements of customers, any ticket class will be met,” according to information on the website.
“However, there is a small note, that if customers have a need to use special meals, they must register 24 hours in advance, and problems can completely occur causing meals not as required.” , the company noted further.
In Miriam’s case, she said she is a vegan so preparing meals is very important, she also claims to have booked and reconfirmed many times.
The video also received mixed reviews. Some people asked why she didn’t go and prepare the food herself, now there is a problem and they ask questions
“I always carry spare food, but the flight has been delayed many times so I can’t be proactive in preparing the meal in advance,” explains Miriam.
Some other vegans also shared their rather unpleasant experiences when flying:
“A small vegetarian dumpling and a few slices of vegetables, that’s all I was served”
“I obviously ordered a vegetarian meal, but somehow there was chicken inside.”
