Marvel may be building towards the birth of the Illuminati in Phase 4. In the comics, the Illuminati are a group of popular Marvel heroes who arrange secret meetings with each other to discuss measures against deal with possible threats. For a long time, most of the Avengers, X-Men and more were unaware of their existence.
Based on the concept of a group of powerful people secretly shaping the future of the world, the Illuminati will include various characters of the Marvel Universe.
Among the characters who have been members of the Illuminati in the comics are Iron Man, Namor the Sub-Mariner, Professor X, Doctor Strange, Black Bolt, Black Panther, and Mr. Fantastic. A retcon in the mid-2000s revealed that they acted behind the scenes in some of Marvel’s biggest conflicts. They are also the ones who launched the “World War Hulk” when they expelled the Hulk into space.
The MCU lost someone who could have been one of the Illuminati’s central figures when it “killed” Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame, but that doesn’t make the Illuminati any less valuable when it was founded in Phase 4. .
In fact, Marvel is said to be developing an Illuminati project. Regardless of whether this is true or not, the Illuminati are truly the team that Marvel needs in Phase 4. Marvel has some of the characters they need to make that happen, and many more could be introduced soon. introduce.
Not only that, the events that have happened (and will happen in the future) will also provide these heroes with plenty of reasons to form the MCU’s Illuminati. If the team is formed on an upcoming movie or show, here’s their lineup after Phase 4 ends.
Nick Fury
Nick Fury isn’t a member of the Illuminati in the comics, but the character could play a role in bringing the group together, especially since Iron Man is no more. It’s possible that Samuel L.Jackson’s character will begin reaching out to other prominent MCU characters before Secret Invasion hits Disney+. If Fury really knows of a Skrull plot to infiltrate (and take over Earth), it’s understandable that Fury acts first compared to what the character has done in the MCU. His best bet was to contact others with great power and influence, making them actively interested in stopping the Skrull invasion. Once it’s over, Fury and the other Illuminati members will likely see each other often, as other threats may follow.
Doctor Strange
The MCU will likely resemble comic book versions of the Illuminati starring Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), and as Master of the Mystic Arts, Doctor Strange will most likely become an obvious candidate for the show. list – with everything this character has faced and is about to face (and with both Spider-Man 3 and Doctor Strange 2 coming soon). People like Nick Fury should now understand that Earth needs to be prepared for the threats posed by magic and the multiverse.
Hank Pym
lluminati in the MCU will definitely need an experienced scientist with a genius mind. As mentioned earlier, Tony Stark is dead, but that’s not too big of a deal. An equally good choice – if not better – is Hank Pym (Michael Douglas). As the inventor of Pym Particles, he’s easily one of the brightest minds in the MCU and is certainly someone to contribute, thanks to his rich scientific knowledge, experience with SHIELD and past career as a superhero.
Hank Pym may appear in Secret Invasion as an ally of Nick Fury, and his role in the Illuminati will be expanded in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
It is possible that he will be chosen instead of Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo). Banner also might not be someone who wants to keep such a big secret from his fellow superheroes, but Hank Pym is different. And Marvel may simply not want Banner to be associated with the Illuminati and could interfere with any potential plans for the Illuminati to send the Hulk into space as happened in “World War Hulk”.
Namor The Sub-Mariner
Namor the Sub-Mariner is rumored to be the main antagonist of Black Panther 2. Even if it is, the King of Atlantis might not be portrayed as a truly evil character. Like the comic book character, the MCU’s Namor may be more of an anti-hero, whose primary goal is to protect Atlantis.
If he does appear in Black Panther 2 (and survives the movie), he could be recruited by the Illuminati in a post-credits or future project with the promise of possibly advancing the interests of the Illuminati. Atlantis.
In Marvel Comics, Namor is willing to work alongside the humans in the Illuminati because he is wise enough to understand that despite their differences, there will come a time when cooperation is essential to their survival. Namor joining the Illuminati at the end of Black Panther 2 could open the door for him to become an ally in future battles, such as the possible battle with Kang the Conqueror.
Black Bolt
The Inhumans will likely appear and be represented in the Illuminati by their king, Black Bolt. Since ABC’s Inhumans TV show was a huge flop, Marvel fans didn’t notice these characters at all, but the multiverse makes it possible for Marvel to reboot the appearance of the Inhumans – possibly Inhumans took place in an alternate reality. Marvel will probably introduce new versions of the Inhuman Royal Family. The main character of Ms. Marvel is a member of the Inhumans in the MCU. Maybe in the show, she will discover the existence of Inhuman Royal Family and search for them. This development could lead to Black Bolt being revealed as a member of the Illuminati.
Mr. Fantastic
The Illuminati may have one more member after Marvel releases the Fantastic Four, possibly the studio’s last Phase 4 film. Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic is the driving force behind a lot of the decision-making that takes place during Illuminati meetings in the comics. Plus, it’s possible that one of the threats the Illuminati will face will come directly from Doctor Doom and Annihilus. If so, the Fantastic Four could be an integral part of the story. Marvel’s inclusion of one of the four team members in the Illuminati would be a way to forge a connection between them and the rest of the MCU in front of a large team.
