Kodoani.com – Ablaze has launched a Kickstarter campaign to release a horror manga “Gannibal” by Masaaki Ninomiya. The campaign will offer a limited hardcover edition of the manga as a complete 13-volume box set, along with various other bonuses, including a digital version of the first volume and a digital collection from episode 1 to episode 6. Masaaki Ninomiya will also draw the initial sketches for the two top prizes.
The Kickstarter campaign has an early bird special within the first 24 hours of launch. Ablaze planned to release the first volume of the manga in North America in November and the second volume in February 2024. The manga will still be available digitally and physically outside of the Kickstarter campaign, but the hardcover version will be exclusive to Kickstarter.
Masaaki Ninomiya’s manga “Gannibal” tells the story of Daigo Agawa, a resident police officer who is newly assigned to a remote mountain village named Kuge. The guy was initially warmly welcomed by the villagers, but after the suspicious death of an old woman, he began to suspect the abnormality of the village and there was speculation that “The people in this village are eating people. “
The “Gannibal” manga launched in Nihonbungeisha’s “Weekly Manga Goraku” magazine in October 2018 and ended in November 2021. The manga’s 13th and final compiled book volume was published in Japan in February 2022.
The manga adapted thee63 for a live-action series that premiered in December 2022 and aired seven episodes. Disney+ and Hulu are streaming the series worldwide. Disney+ said it was the most-watched locally produced series on Disney+ Japan based on hours streamed. A second season of the show is being planned with the cast and crew returning.
