Activision Blizzard has just announced that profits and player numbers have plummeted in the past quarter, despite the success of Diablo Immortal.
Despite the success of Diablo Immortal and the numbers they announced about this game such as 30 million installs or hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue, Activision Blizzard still reported a decline in profits for the second quarter of 2022.
Specifically, this publisher said that the number of people playing their games has decreased from 100 million people per month in the first quarter of 2022 to 94 million people per month in this second quarter. Their revenue also fell year-on-year, from $2.3 billion to $1.64 billion.
Explaining this, Activision Blizzard says it’s because gamers have become more indifferent to their Call of Duty-branded games. However, the company also announced that these numbers will increase again in the fourth quarter of this year, when two new Call of Duty titles, COD Modern Warfare II and COD Warzone 2, are released.
Currently, Activision Blizzard has not revealed much new information about both these games. Modern Warfare 2 is expected to be shown off next September then open beta testing before launching on October 28 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X.
