Kodoani.com – Shogakukan has announced that manga author Hirō Nakamichi will release a new work based on the game “Kaiju on the Earth: Vulcanus” by Masato Uesugi and Noriaki Watanabe on Shogakukan’s Sunday Webry website on December 24.
In the board game, designed by Uesugi and directed by Watanabe, players lead a Japanese government crisis management team, attempting to fend off an attack by a giant kaiju heading towards Tokyo. Missions include evacuating citizens, responding to fires, deploying the JSDF, and researching kaiju. Players are faced with a decision between directly attacking the kaiju to defeat them and researching to increase their ability to deal with them.
Arclight and Drosselmeyer & Co. released the first game, “Kaiju on the Earth: Vulcanus,” in December 2019. The sequels were “Kaiju on the Earth: Leviath” in July 2020 and “Kaiju on the Earth: Yggdrasus ” in September 2021.
Hirō Nakamichi, author of the manga “After School Dice Club” has been chosen to adapt the story of “Kaiju on the Earth: Vulcanus” into a manga. “After School Dice Club” focuses on Aya and Miki, two students finding fun through the world of board games. The manga saw success and was adapted into an anime in 2019.
The collaboration between Nakamichi and the game “Kaiju on the Earth: Vulcanus” promises to bring a fascinating work, connecting the ending between the game world and the amazement of giant creatures.
