If you look at the MCU’s Phase 4 schedule, you’ll notice one thing, that there’s still no new Avengers movie scheduled. But surely one day there will be a great crisis when the remaining heroes must unite as Avengers to fight against a formidable enemy.
Thanos is the main enemy of the Avengers in Phase 3 of the MCU. So after Thanos, which character will be the next strong enemy of the Avengers?
From the already released MCU Phase 4 movies and series, here are the characters that many suspect will be the new Avengers enemies.
1. Kang the Conqueror, or a variation of He Who Remains
In the Loki series, we see the character He Who Remains played by Jonathan Majors. Since before appearing in Loki, Jonathan Majors has been confirmed to play Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumia. So it looks like He Who Remains is in fact a variant of Kang.
He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) is the man behind running the Time Variance Authority (TVA) and creating the sacred Timeline. If Kang the Conqueror is a more deadly variant of He Who Remains, he could actually be a Thanos-level foe for the Avengers.
The Celestials have appeared a few times in the MCU through easter eggs – most notably Ego the Living Planet in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 – but after the release of Eternals, it’s likely that the Celestials appear more and play more roles in Phase 4 of the MCU.
With the Infinity Stones no longer at the heart of every power struggle in the franchise, the Celestials will likely take their place and become the most powerful force in the universe. If some of the Celestials turn evil, or if they turn their backs on the MCU’s heroes in some way, this could lead to some major catastrophe in the next Avengers movie, or whatever when does that happen. And defeating a Celestial in the comics isn’t easy.
3. A creature summoned by the Ten Wheels
The mid-credits Shang-Chi reveals that the Ten Wheels once belonged to Wenwu and now it belongs to Shang-Chi.
In the first post-credits scene, Shang-Chi and Katy are called to a meeting between Wong (Benedict Wong), Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) to discuss a source of energy that the Ten Wheels have. sent into space.
However, none of these people were able to understand the signals that the Ten Wheels sent. Do not know where these signals were sent and to whom? Who here will be an ally or an enemy? This signal probably only started when Shang-Chi possessed the Ten Wheels, leaving fans wondering why and what would happen when Shang-Chi “takes over” the power from the Ten Wheels. But one thing is for sure, the creature “summoned” by the Ten Wheels will not be an ordinary being.
4. Valentina Allegra de Fontaine
Until now, the role of Valentina Allegra de Fontaine remains a mystery. In The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, this woman recruits John Walker and makes him a United States Agent. In the Black Widow post-credits, she tells Yelena Belova to keep an eye on Clint Barton. Finally, Yelena hunts down Clint in the Hawkeye series.
Even so, if we look at the events in Hawkeye, the order to kill Clint Barton actually came from Eleanor Bishop. So, in this case, Valentina was probably just the intermediary to convey assassination missions from clients like Eleanor.
However, Valentina is the only one when it comes to teaming up with John Walker (a soldier who uses a super soldier serum) and Yelena (a Black Widow). She is suspected of wanting to create the MCU’s Thunderbolts or Dark Avengers team. Another thing that makes Valentina suspected of being a great enemy because in the comics, she was once Madame HYDRA. The MCU hasn’t always evolved the way it did in the comics. However, Val’s history in the comics leaves Val in the MCU in doubt.
