Kodoani.com – 5mm illustrator Nishizawa revealed on Thursday that she and manga creator Aka Akasaka will launch a new manga titled Renai Daikō (Love Proxy) in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine issues 22 and 23 combined on April 27. The manga will be drawn by Nishizawa 5mm for the first time in a magazine.
Shueisha’s Young Jump magazine held auditions in 2022 for a new manga artist, with the opportunity to collaborate with Akasaka on a new manga.
Nishizawa 5mm is perhaps best known as the character designer for Hololive VTuber Momosuzu Nene.
Akasaka began the Kaguya-sama: Love is War manga in Shueisha’s Miracle Jump magazine in May 2015 but moved it to Young Jump in March 2016. The manga ended in November 2022. Shueisha published volume 28 of the manga in December 2022.
Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari launched the Oshi no Ko manga in Young Jump magazine in April 2020. Shueisha published the 11th volume of the manga on March 17. The manga is also adapting an ongoing anime, The first 90-minute episode premiered on Wednesdays.
Akasaka announced last November following the completion of Kaguya-sama: Love is War that he plans to retire as a manga artist and will instead focus solely on writing. . He intends Kaguya-sama: Love is War to be the last manga series that he is responsible for illustrating. Akasaka has focused more on writing manga drawn by others in recent years, such as Oshi no Ko, drawn by Mengo Yokoyari. He also previously drew the Sayonara Piano Sonata manga written by Hikaru Sugii.
