According to VTV, blockchain technology and e-wallets are becoming more and more popular among current social network users because of the many conveniences they bring to users. However, with that convenience comes a threat when blockchain technology and e-wallets can become tools for hackers – cybercriminals to take advantage and take advantage of.
Many cybersecurity experts have discovered an Echelon malware that has been used by many hackers to take advantage of the automatic download feature on Telegram – a very popular chat application in Vietnam as well as in the world. This malware has been modified in code to provide many functions that allow it to penetrate the data and privacy of users’ phones and computers.
According to VTV, experts warn that this malware is especially dangerous when users turn on the automatic download feature on the Telegram application. In the event that the malware cure file has been downloaded automatically, the malware will install itself on the device without the Telegram user’s knowledge. Even if the user doesn’t click or install, this malware still accesses the activity or takes a screenshot of the user’s device and gives it back to the hacker.
Bad guys can take advantage of 18+ groups on Telegram to install malware on users’ devices
This malware is said to be capable of taking over information about Telegram users’ electronic wallets, especially those in which users have to keep their own encryption keys instead of depending on cryptocurrency exchanges.
VTV added that experts have recommended that Telegram users should turn off the automatic download feature by accessing Settings -> Data & Storage -> Automatic Media Download -> Disabled All.
For Telegram users on computers, go to Settings -> Advance -> Automatic Media Download -> Private group, group, channel -> Files -> Disabled.
