British media reported that Amber Heard is facing financial difficulties when forced to sell her favorite home in California.
According to the Daily Beast, court documents show that the “Aquaman” star may not have asked her ex-husband Johnny Depp for a divorce settlement that could run into the tens of millions of dollars after they split in 2016. The 36-year-old actor could be entitled to half of the $33 million Johnny Depp was paid to shoot the 4th movie in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ because the series was made while they were married.
However, Heard refused to ask for money from her ex-husband. The judge also declined to include this detail in the defamation lawsuit between Depp and Heard.
In the end, Heard lost the case and was ordered to pay Johnny Depp a total of $8.3 million for defamation (original sentence of $ 10.3 million but Depp also had to pay Heard $ 2 million for insults). However, the actress did not have enough cash to pay this huge amount.
It looks like she’s starting to raise money when she sold her home in the Yucca Valley (California) for $1.05 million, making a profit of $500,000. According to TMZ, Heard purchased the home in 2019 through a trust.
Western media confirmed that Amber Heard is in a state of financial crisis after losing a lawsuit against her ex-husband. Not only did she have to pay the amount of $8.3 million to Depp, she also had to pay legal fees to her attorney. Her work was also severely affected. It is estimated that she has lost 45-50 million USD due to being boycotted by movie studios and brands. Before that, more than 3 million people signed a petition to cancel Heard’s role in the blockbuster ‘Aquaman’ part 2, which is due to be released next year.
But Amber Heard has not stopped. On July 21, she continued to file an appeal against the June 1 judgment that ordered her to pay $ 10.3 million to her ex-husband. On the opposite side, Johnny Depp also filed, asking the court to cancel the $ 2 million fine that he had to pay Heard.
