Recently, Faker has extended his contract with T1 and this contract lasts for 3 years. With Faker turning 26 in 2023, the contract also does not include an auto-renewal clause, which can be considered the last 3 years of Faker’s career. In addition, according to some viewers, the contract also means gratitude for Faker’s contributions to T1, LCK and world League of Legends.
But before that, the LoL community in general and the LCK region in particular witnessed Ruler parting ways with Gen.G Esports (Gen.G). This deal is considered to have completely ended the Samsung Galaxy (SSG) era in the past. Gen.G now has absolutely no traces of SSG winning the 2017 World Championship. As for Ruler, in the last broadcast at Gen.G headquarters, he still wants to retire in the colors of the team that has spent most of his career.
It was Ambition – a member of the legendary SSG squad in 2017 who recently spoke out about two Faker – Ruler deals. Accordingly, the former SSG star commented: “The most important thing that T1 understands, but Gen.G does not understand, is that we have to keep the gods forever. Am I not right? Faker and Deft are rivals of the team. each other, or some people see me as Faker’s rival, but everyone abandons Ruler. Takes me to praise but doesn’t take Ruler seriously.”
But in fact, Gen.G’s actions are completely understandable. Gen.G needed a complete facelift to continue its search for success. Moreover, Ruler’s bonus is certainly not small. Even with T1, except for Faker’s renewal, this team did not recruit any more stars for two consecutive transfer seasons. The current mainstay members of T1 are all “homegrown”.
Anyway, leaving Gen.G could be a good move for Ruler himself and the team. Faker and Ruler are also in two completely different positions and certainly, all parties have carefully considered their decisions for their futures.
