Expected, Saigon Buffalo (SGB) vs Isurus (ISG), SGB vs DRX will take place at 5:00, 8:00 am on October 1, 2022, respectively.
ISG is the number 1 and only seed from Latin America, they have 1 loss to MAD Lions. DRX is the 4th seed from Korea, they won against RNG.
In the opening match of Worlds, ISG proved to be no less competitive when their opponent was MAD Lions. ISG chose a very strong lineup when pulling late, facing the MAD Lions’ early level 6 strength lineup. Despite being overwhelmed, ISG survived the ganks. Unfortunately, ISG always lost in Baron disputes, and had to accept losing their first match at this year’s Worlds.
ISG owns 2 Korean players in ADD top lane, supporting Jelly. And these are the two worst positions of ISG in the match against the crazy lions. ADD, Jelly respectively choose Ornn, Amumu are two generals that tend to serve the purpose of teamfights rather than gaining advantage in lane. ADD was counted 3 times after 10 minutes of play, leaving Armut holding Gnar unexpectedly pale.
Jelly’s Amumu is too lacking in nice combat situations. Therefore Amumu is harmless to MAD Lions and not much help to ADC Gavotto. Ornn is an extremely forehand champion of ADD and Jelly. Recently ADD picked Ornn 8 times, won 6 lost 2; Jelly has picked Ornn four times in the past year with a 100% win rate. SGB can gank into 2 positions of ADD, Jelly to get the 2nd win in a row.
DRX vs RNG is the best match of day 1 of the warm-up. The two teams showed excellent 5v5 level throughout the match, 2 Rift Heralds, 4 Barons, 7 Dragons had to lie down in the 42-minute match. DRX defeated RNG, considering DRX is the strongest team in Group B, meeting DRX in game 3 is very good for SGB. In the last 2 matches, SGB will face MAD Lions, RNG, 2 teams that have not shown clear dominance.

Although DRX is the 4th seed of the LCK, their LCK quality is very rich, especially this team has one of the best ADCs in the LCK, Deft. However, SGB played against T1 during the recent MSI, in the laning phase the AD carry/support Shogun/Taki played on par with the two opposing players. So Shogun/Taki will have enough confidence to face Deft/BeryL (BeryL used to be the 2020 World Championship champion in DK’s shirt).
Top laner Kingen is probably the weakest position of DRX that Sir Ren and his students will be looking to exploit. If SGB has the advantage of laning and snowballing quickly, they will win DRX. The greatest strength of DRX in particular and the teams from the LCK, LPL in general is 5v5. Even if they are at a disadvantage in terms of money, 5v5 teamfights will erase the difference in equipment, T1 a few years ago being a prime example. Adding the Target Bonus mechanism this season will also favor strong teams in the late game.
