Pompo: The Cinéphile, The Summit of the Gods, Castlevania are also nominated
Kodoani.com – The International Animation Association, ASIFA-Hollywood, announced the nominations for the 49th Annual Annie Awards on Tuesday. Anime including BELLE, Fortune Favorite Lady Nikuko, Pompo: The Cinéphile and The Summit of the Gods received nominations in the “Best Indie Drama” category.
Hosoda’s BELLE also received nominations in the categories “Best Instruction”, “FX – Best Feature”, “Best Production Design” and “Best Writing”.
The music by Youki Kojima and Yuta Bando for the movie Poupelle of Chimney Town was nominated for the “Best Picture” category.
Netflix’s Castlevania was also nominated for “Best FX – TV/Media”.
The Annie Award recognizes outstanding achievement in the field of animation. ASIFA-Hollywood added the Best Independent Animated Feature award to the 2016 awards to “recognize not only the widely released features, but also independent animators, studios, and animators. international films, anime and specials may not get the attention they deserve.” Mamoru Hosoda’s film Mirai won an award in 2019.
The awards ceremony will take place on February 26 at UCLA’s Royce Hall.
