Yen Press has been simultaneously publishing the manga in English since its debut, and it describes the first volume:
There was once a vampire called Vanitas, hated by his fellow humans for being born under the blue full moon, as most appeared on the night of a crimson color. Frightened and alone, he created the “Book of Vanitas”, a cursed grimoire from which he will one day avenge all vampires; this is how the story goes at least. Vanitas no Carte follows Noé, a young man traveling on a spaceship in 19th-century Paris with one goal in mind: to find the Book of Vanitas. A sudden vampire attack leads him to meet the mysterious Vanitas, a doctor specializing in vampires, and to the surprise of Noé, a completely normal human. The mysterious doctor who inherited both the name and the infamous text from Vanitas lore, used grimoires to cure his patients. But behind his kind demeanor lurks something a little more sinister…
Tomoyuki Itamura (Nisemonogatari, Owarimonogatari, Tsukimonogatari) is directing the anime at BONES, and Deko Akao (Noragami, Snow White with the Red Hair) is supervising the series scripts. Yoshiyuki Ito (Concrete Revolutio, Carole & Tuesday) is the character designer and animation director.
