Kyoto Animation’s original TV anime based on the novel premiered in October 2018
Kodoani.com – Kyoto Animation’s official Twitter account announced the anime Tsurune (Tsurune: Kazemai Koko Kyūdō-bu) sent a New Year’s greeting on Saturday. The greeting announces that the upcoming film will hit theaters in the summer of 2022, and also informs the franchise has more plans (not necessarily an anime) for the new year.
Takuya Yamamura will return to direct the film at Kyoto Animation.
The television anime premiered in Japan on NHK -General in October 2018. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime and streamed the series on Crunchyroll and HIDIVE (with an English dub) as it aired in Japan. Japan. Sentai Filmworks released the anime on home video in January 2020. The release includes an original anime video, the 14th episode unsolicited.

The story unfolds as Minato Narumiya begins her freshman year at the local Kazemai High School.
Mr. Tommy, an advisor to the Japan Archery Club, is keen to recruit Minato, as well as his childhood friends Seiya Takehaya and Ryohei Yamanouchi. Ryohei convinces the reluctant Minato to attend the Club’s tutorial, where he also meets Kaito Onogi and Nanao Kisaragi.
When talking to Minato, Mr. Tommy introduces him as a rare Japanese archery talent and asks him to show it off in front of everyone. However, Minato’s arrow failed to hit the target because he was suffering from a serious condition… Minato, Seiya, Ryohei, Nanao and Kaito.
Japanese archery brought them together. What will they gain when struggling with their beautiful but “bitter” youth?
Takuya Yamamura (Violet Evergarden episodes 7 and 12, Sound! Euphonium episodes 3 and 10) is directing the anime as his debut series director, while Michiko Yokote (Shirobako, Children of the Whales, Karakai) is directing the anime. Jōzu no Takagi-san) is in charge of the script. Miku Kadowaki (Beyond the Boundary, Amagi Brilliant Park, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid) designed the characters. Harumi Fuuki (Miss Hokusai, The Piano Forest) composed the music. Lantis handled the music production. Luck Life performed the opening song “Naru” and ChouCho performed the ending song “Orange -iro”.
