A Respawn Entertainment developer has said that the studio may slow down the release rate of new Apex Legends characters in the future.
Since the game was released in 2019, each new season of content has introduced a new Legend character that the gaming community is always eagerly looking forward to. But Respawn senior character designer Devan McGuire told Dexerto that the studio could throw the game off balance if it continued to follow this pattern to attract attention.
He explained: The more and more Legends, the more difficult it is to make them balanced in the game. The obvious example of most games that focus on new character launches, leads to either a character that is too weak or a character that is too strong because many of their skills help them become a dominant meta and drag on many. players will just want to quit the game and go. “Whether that model will continue is still an ongoing discussion and it may not be changed, but we don’t want to saturate the gameplay of Apex Legends.”
In March, new Apex Legends content with more than two years of development unexpectedly leaked from a development update. Looks like it revealed nine new Legends, a ‘Dividing Moon’ map, plus new weapons and heirlooms. The newly leaked Legends include Conduit, Scryer, Caliber, Jester, Phantom, Vantage, Uplink, Catalyst, and Newcastle, the last of which were recently confirmed as the new heroes of Season 13.
The newly released content will be titled ‘Saviors’ and will launch on May 10th, the upcoming content also includes some significant changes to the game’s newest map, Storm Point. Added many new exciting game modes related to the IMC gear sets that have been inactive for a long time, being recreated and activated. Respawn announced this week that Apex Legends Mobile will be released worldwide this month for Android and iOS devices.
