Aspyr has admitted that players are currently unable to complete the Switch version of Star Wars KOTOR II.
The Star Wars KOTOR II game, which was released for Nintendo consoles on June 8, included a bug that caused the game to crash after a Basilisk cutscene while landing on planet Onderon. Aspyr was asked about the issue, which is expected to be addressed in an upcoming fix update, information revealed by a Twitter user named Daniel Moore.
They texted Aspyr asking if they were aware that the game is currently unfinished. “Hi, this is a known issue that will be addressed in the next patch,” according to the official response. “While we cannot provide an ETA at this time, we will definitely let you know when this update is released.”
Moore responded by saying that they were one of the users who initially reported the problem before it was reported as a game bug: “Did you know that this game is currently uncompleted?” Aspyr replied: “Yes, we are aware and our development team is working to provide the patch as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience in the meantime!”
Texas-based Aspyr is currently working on the Knights of the Old Republic remake for PS5 and PC. Not a mere Remake, they said the game is being “rebuilt from the ground up” with added modern gameplay and graphics technology. Aspyr is also behind the recent re-releases of Star Wars: Jedi Knight II, Republic Commando, and Episode 1 Racer.
They even ported KOTOR to the iOS platform in the past, along with another BioWare title, Jade Empire. Aspyr is a subsidiary of TV studio World War Z and Studio Saber Interactive, which ported The Witcher 3 to Switch, is also currently working on a remake of the upcoming KOTOR.
