Members of the Assassin’s Creed community cracked the code hidden in the recent Nexus trailer and confirmed the return of at least three main characters.
Assassin’s Creed Nexus may just be the codename and not the official name yet, and the game recently got a short teaser at the VR Meta Showcase.
Assassin’s Creed Nexus is the upcoming VR installment in the franchise, and the title looks like it will feature Ezio from AC1, Connor from AC3 and Kassandra from AC Odyssey as playable characters. This was discovered after various members of the Access the Animus community worked together to crack a piece of code hidden in the recent Assassin’s Creed Nexus trailer.
Assassin’s Creed Nexus is likely just a codename and not an official name yet, and the game recently got a short teaser at the VR Meta Showcase. Before that the game was Ubisoft’s best kept secret as there were a lot of rumors about its development, even though it was not an officially announced game like Assassin’s Creed Mirage, AC Jade, AC Red or AC Hexe. For now it looks like it will get some gameplay at Ubisoft Forward, and it looks like fans will be seeing the return of Ezio, Connor, and Kassandra in this VR action title.
Hidden in the trailer are a couple of binary strings that translate as “Fetch genetic memory string oX memory data,” followed by a string of numbers. The Access the Animus community, which includes TheEagleBearer, Sky, Dwarf, L3vinu and Pascalpalace, worked closely together to decipher this, discovering that the sequence translates to birth dates. These numbers, as can be seen in the image below, directly correspond to the known birth dates of Ezio, Connor, and Kassandra, suggesting that these three characters are playable to some extent in Assassin’s Creed. Nexus.
One of the many rumors is that Assassin’s Creed Nexus will allow players to step into the shoes of past protagonists, but to what extent and why remains to be seen.
Of course it’s also entirely possible that these numbers are used for something other than gameplay, but that seems very unlikely and at least it does confirm the return of the three characters. This. Kassandra’s birthday is perhaps the most convincing as little is known about it and the code disables it the right number at the right time. One of the many rumors is that Assassin’s Creed Nexus will allow players to step into the shoes of past protagonists, but to what extent and why remains to be seen. Those gameplay sequences could be familiar, they could be different, and they could also be previous segments of their main game, or it could be a whole new return. They might be story-related, could be combat-related, or perhaps they’d give fans a new way to get into the Assassin’s Creed-style game.
We still have to wait and see if these are the only three characters that Assassin’s Creed Nexus will launch or if there will be more. In the grand scheme of things, there’s a reason many beloved characters are back, and perhaps new ones will also be introduced in a VR game that scans genetic memory, but gamers will soon find out more. More information when the next Ubisoft Forward event is held.
