There’s a new Jaw Titan in Attack on Titan when Porco Galliard met his gruesome end at the hands of Eren Jaeger.
Kodoani.com – WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Attack on Titan Season 4, Episode 19, “Two Brothers”.
In Season 4, Episode 19 of Attack on Titan, Porco Galliard ended up suffering too much of a blow to the tough hand of Eren Jaeger. After a bloody scuffle to which the guy gave his all, in the end Porco was unable to steal the Founding Titan from Eren like he had been trying to do throughout The Finale. With Porco’s wounds so severe that even the Titan’s healing could not be overcome as Shiganshina was devoured by Zeke’s heartless Titans, Galliard did the only thing he could and handed over the Jaw Titan to Falco Grice.
One of the biggest lingering plot themes from the first half of The Final Season, Zeke finally carried out his entire plan to turn the Paradis army into a Titan through alcohol tainted from his spinal cord. Falco’s accidental drinking was not part of the plan, and Zeke made Zeke heartbroken by forcing Falco to become a Titan despite his brother Colt’s pleas. Luckily for Falco, he turned into a heartless Titan right near Reiner Braun and Porco Galliard, both beaten, tired, and about to pass on their Titan to save their child comrades.
Porco had always had a strong hatred for Reiner, having spent his life believing that Reiner had stolen the Armored Titan, which Porco was positioned to inherit as a War candidate fellow soldiers. In an attempt to get Porco back to his feet, Reiner appears to give Porco a memory in which Marcel Galliard, Porco’s brother and previous heir to the Jaw Titan, admits to having beaten Marley against him. back to Porco to protect him from a brief and violent fight. Porco had always blamed Reiner for having stolen the Armored Titan and was on a mission where Marcel was killed, and this new memory finally put Porco at ease.
As Reiner prepared to allow Falco to eat himself and inherit the Armored Titan, Porco couldn’t help but support Reiner one last time by sacrificing himself to save Falco before Reiner could. During Porco’s fight with Eren, Galliard smashed the nape of his Titan’s neck, destroying Porco’s skull even without being able to repair the Titan, so Porco would die one way or another. As a child and a promising Warrior candidate beloved by all, even the angry and aloof Porco wasn’t afraid to give up his already doomed life to save Falco.
The brotherhood became central to AoT’s sentiments later this year, as Zeke chose to trust Eren over Colt and Falco’s lives, while Porco eventually made peace with Marcel’s legacy. Falco would probably be disgusted to learn that he ate Porco when he awoke, but Galliard knew it was important for the Jaw Titan to stay under Marley’s control. After all, if a Titan Shifter dies without passing on their Titan, that Titan will be inherited by the next Eldian born anywhere in the world, which means there is no guarantee that the child will be born. Young Eldian will be in Marley.
Porco Galliard is too short-tempered for a Titan Shifter, as evidenced by him being frequently knocked out whenever he rushes into battle. The much higher level Falco could make better use of an agile and powerful Titan like the Jaw Titan. However, there is no indication that Falco will have time to learn how to control his Titan, as the outcome of the struggle between Eren and Zeke inside the Path is yet to be revealed. Things are already at 11 in Attack on Titan, and Falco’s Jaw Titan may not have had a role or a major role in the escalation of this catastrophe that is certain to come as the AoT continues.
