A new stand-alone manga story by Daisuke Hagiwara, the author of the beloved rom-com series Horimiya, is being released.

A new manga has been published in the latest issue of Square Enix’s Shonen Gangan manga magazine. The magazine is also the publication in which the original Horimiya manga is serialized. The new manga will be a standalone, self-contained story. No other details about Hagiwara’s latest work have been released. The new manga will appear in the magazine’s next issue, which is slated to hit Japanese retailers on February 12.
Hagiwara is still best known for Horimiya, a manga adaptation of Hiroki “Hero” Adachi’s long-running manga, a four-panel webcomic by Hiroki “Hero” Adachi, originally self-published. via Adachi’s website from 2007 – 2011. An adaptation of Hagiwara’s manga began in 2011 and finally ended in March 2021, with Hagiwara writing an additional concluding chapter in July, which takes place after High school graduation of the main character. Hagiwara is also known for the Ne Ne Ne manga series, also serialized in Shonen Gangan, and for contributing to Studio Ponoc’s debut film, Mary and the Witch’s Flower.

A live-action adaptation of the series also began airing on Japanese television in February 2021.
