In a new interview with Crunchyroll, Hiroyoki revealed that these characters were inspired to create Girlfriend, Girlfriend after discussing another romance manga. “I’m not inspired by anything specific, but in a meeting with my editor, when I suggested this story, they mentioned that in The Quintessential Quintuplets, a girl is chosen, ” Hiroyuki said and added, “While discussing how we feel It’s bad for girls not to be chosen, we wondered what it would be like to write a story in which everyone could be chosen. Quintessential Quintuplets is a manga series written by Negi Haruba and tells the story of academically gifted but financially deprived Futaro Uesugi, who takes a job tutoring five daughters of the wealthy Nakano family. yes. The story foretells that Uesugi will eventually marry one of the five girls, and leaves the reader guessing who the boy will marry over the course of the series.
Hiroyuki further explained, saying that Girlfriend, Girlfriend was developed through a desire to use manga as a platform to tell stories that are not necessarily realistic. “I wanted to do something that couldn’t be done in the real world. Even though there are so many attractive girls that appear in the manga, ultimately choosing just one of them feels like a wasted opportunity, so it’s a waste of time, so it’s not like that.” I was wondering if something could be done about that,” the author said. “I want to explore the possibilities of life. Hiroyuki’s manga was first published in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in March 2020.
