Kodoani.com – Katamari Damacy is a much-remembered PS2 game that has stolen the hearts of tons of players worldwide due to its engaging gameplay and gimmick where players roll a sticky ball around the copy. map in hopes of making it big enough to roll over every possible object. Part of its success is due to the art style of its creator, Keita Takahashi, who recently revealed that he has a new title in development that will be published by Annapurna Interactive.
Keita Takahashi is one of the more modest developers in the industry, as he rejected the praise given to Katamari Damacy on the premise that it is neither “innovative” or “creative”. He just wanted to bring some fun back to video games. In the past, he has also said that he wants to leave the field of video game development one day, eventually wanting to design playgrounds for children. However, it looks like Takahashi hasn’t finished making the game yet, as he has made it clear that a new game is in the works.
Annapurna Interactive shared a small teaser trailer for Keita Takahashi’s next project on social media. It seems that despite the nod to how Takahashi helped create Katamari, the title is brand new. Fans of the small snippet currently seem to be teasing the game’s main characters as well, who appear to be a dog and its owner.

While both old and new fans will most likely love a new Katamari game following the release of Katamari Damacy Reroll in 2018, this game may only have a nod or two to Takahashi’s previous project. as Bandai Namco Entertainment retains the legal copyright to the franchise. Since Takahashi currently runs his own gaming studio called Uvula LLC, if a sequel is to be produced, it will most likely not feature him.
It’s also important to note that this new game appears to be still in early development, as Uvula LLC’s social media accounts have posted that they are hiring a new engineer for the game. However, since the title is being published by Annapurna Interactive, it could be rolled out on several versions whenever it finally releases, including the one for Nintendo Switch.
Even if it’s not a new entry to the Katamari series, this new title already looks pretty cute and heartwarming. The short and sweet video ends with a vague statement “more to come” implying that fans will be given more information sooner or later, with the little white dog also wondering what news will come. from where and when. Fans of Keita Takahashi’s series may want to stay tuned for what’s next from Annapurna Interactive.
