On the morning of February 12, Axie Infinity shared the first information about Axie Infinity: Origin, the V3 version of the game. In addition to many gameplay-related changes, an extremely attractive information that attracts many people’s attention is that Axie Infinity: Origin will have a “free to play” mode for beginners.
One of the big barriers for newcomers when they want to play Axie Infinity is having to spend an initial amount of money to buy NFT Axie, forming a team of 3 new animals to be able to fight. With the popularity of Axie Infinity skyrocketing in 2021, the value of these NFTs has increased as well, inadvertently limiting the player community’s ability to expand, forcing them to follow communities. group (guild) to apply for sponsorship (scholarship).
Recognizing that problem, Axie Infinity: Origin will give players “starter” Axies for free. Players will receive additional “starter” Axies when participating in PvE mode and can use them to participate in PvP.
Even so, these Axies are not NFTs, cannot be traded, and will not pay SLP rewards when used. Players are still forced to buy NFT Axies on the Marketplace or breed NFT Axies and use them in competition in order to receive in-game tokens.
Alpha version of Axie Infinity: Origin is expected to be released in March 2022. This means that Season 20 of V2 will either be transitioned to Season 0 of V3, or will take place side-by-side.
As this will be an alpha test with the main purpose of collecting player input, Axie will not be paying out during this period.
