Kodoani.com – Netflix Japan revealed on Monday a trailer for the anime adaptation of Baku Yumemakura's novel Garoden, titled Garouden: The Way of the Lone Wolfwill premiere worldwide on the Netflix service on May 23. Netflix Anime's YouTube channel is also streaming the trailer with English subtitles.

Atsushi Ikariya (Sabikui Bisco, Special Kid Factory) will direct the anime at NAZ, with assistance from Daisuke Mataga (Sabikui Bisco, Special Kid Factory) as assistant director and Sadayuki Murai (Sabikui Bisco, Tsume's Book of Friends) in charge of the script. Ikariya will also design the characters alongside Momoko Kawai (Rhapsody).

Takeshi Ueda, under his musical project name AA=, will perform the opening theme song “FIGHT & PRIDE” and the ending theme song “CRY BOY”.

On the run from past crimes, Juzo Fujimaki is blackmailed into participating in an illegal tournament and must face top fighters in deadly matches.
Yumemakura's novel Garoden was first published in 1985 and continued to release the 13th volume in 2003. Later, the novel was renamed Shin Garouden and the first volume was published in 2006. The fifth volume and is also the latest volume of Shin Garouden published in 2020.
The manga adaptation of the novel by Yumemakura and Keisuke Itagaki (Baki) was first serialized in Gentosha's Comic Birz magazine from 1996 to 1999. The manga has also been serialized in other magazines such as Young Magazine Uppers, Evening, and Weekly Shōnen Champion.
Yumemakura and Itagaki also launched a prequel manga titled Garouden Boy in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2004. Akita Shoten also published two compilation volumes of the manga in 2012.
Additionally, Yumemakura is also famous for other works such as Kurozuka, Onmyoji, Amon Saga, Psycho Diver: Soul Siren and Majyugari, among many others.
