Nintendo confirmed in its latest financial report that Bayonetta 3 is still on track for a 2022 release, following speculation that the game has been delayed.
Bayonetta 3 will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch, but that could only be for a while before releasing to other platforms.
Nintendo has confirmed that Bayonetta 3 is due out in 2022, following speculation that the game has been postponed to 2023. 2022 has seen the Breath of the Wild sequel postponed to 2023, so it will be nothing. surprisingly for Bayonetta 3 it was also pushed back a year as worldwide game development recovered from the effects of the global pandemic.
Season 3 was originally revealed during The Game Awards 2017, with a short trailer showing Bayonetta being shot down by a mysterious enemy. Fans had to wait a little longer to find out more, to the point where there were rumors that Bayonetta 3 was cancelled. Finally during the September 2021 Nintendo Direct, Bayonetta 3 was revealed that Bayonetta 3 will launch in 2022, via a trailer that showcases Bayonetta’s new interface, as well as new giant monster battles will be part of the game.
The second Bayonetta 3 trailer confirmed a 2022 release date, but no new information has been released regarding the game as of the September 2021 Nintendo Direct, leading to concerns about delays. Nintendo has now quashed rumors of a Bayonetta 3 delay in their latest financial report for 2022. The report can be seen on Nintendo’s official website and it lists Bayonetta 3 among the game in “2022”. The title shares this release time with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, listed as a “late 2022” title.
Bayonetta 3 is currently in development for the Nintendo Switch and is scheduled to launch in 2022.
The document outlines a number of reasons why the Bayonetta 3 delay wouldn’t be the worst in the world, as the Nintendo Switch is already scheduled for 2022. The system just saw the launch of Nintendo Switch Sports, and it will soon feature Mario Strikers: Battle League, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Houses, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak in June, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in July and Splatoon 3 in September. The Nintendo Switch’s 2022 schedule is pretty thick, so if Bayonetta 3 needs more time, there’ll still be plenty of games coming out this year.
There’s a chance that Bayonetta 3 will be shown again during the next Nintendo Direct, which will likely happen in the summer, even without E3 in 2022. Hopefully a release date will be given and it will probably be. end of the year, following the release of Splatoon 3 and possibly the same time slot as Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The Bayonetta and Pokémon series are aimed at different audiences, so there’s nothing to fear about Bayonetta competing with the next mainline Pokémon on Nintendo Switch. Whatever it is, it will be great when Bayonetta 3 is finally out on Nintendo Switch after such a long time.
