Head coach Bengi of T1 gave a very detailed explanation about the selection process of the team’s coaching staff in the 2023 season.
After two months in the interim role with T1 at Worlds 2022, Bengi has officially assumed the role of head coach of the team from the 2023 season. According to CEO Joe Marsh, Bengi will have full authority to decide the “deputy generals” “Accompany me.
Accordingly, the remaining members of T1’s BHL are all familiar names including Sky, Roach and Tom. All three are former SKT T1 members like Bengi. In particular, Roach has experience coaching at T1 Academy and Sky also accompanied the first team at the last Worlds.
Only the appointment of Tom is a problem that makes many T1 fans feel overwhelmed. This coach is known as a genuine “antifan T1” when he has had a series of actions and statements against the team before. That’s why coach Bengi personally explained the reason for choosing Tom.
“Obviously in the past, Tom had words and actions that hurt T1 fans, so everyone was worried when he joined, I’m really sorry for that. However, I feel that he is trying his best to work and become a good coach worthy of T1. I saw that he had the ability to help the team a lot, so I decided to choose.” Coach Bengi shared.
“In the last season, the members and T1 staff had many times when they lost trust in each other and had difficulties in communication. So the arrival of Sky will make those things go away, and I’m sure he will continue to do well. Finally, Roach, an experienced person leading the CL team. He can give feedback on the big picture after a game, especially his understanding of Top Lane is very high. He can see and understand the problem both from a player’s position and as a coach.”
