Marvel Studios has determined all the blockbusters will be released in phase 5 of the MCU, but has remained quite secretive for phase 6.
At the past San Diego Comic-Con 2022 event, Marvel Studios “played big” when it announced all the projects in phase 5 of the MCU, and some movies in phase 6, including Fantastic Four, Avengers : The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. The question now is, what other works will phase 6 bring?
According to the presentation of Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, phase 6 of the MCU will begin in the fall of 2024 and end in November 2025. Besides the 3 announced films, there are still 8 secret projects that have not been revealed, mainly focusing on debuting in the early and mid-2025. Some of them may be names that have been revealed. revealed during previous Comic-Con events, and of course, there are also completely new works to contribute to further expanding the Marvel cinematic universe.
Here are the movies that may be in development by Marvel Studios for phase 6 of the MCU. Note, this is only at the level of analysis and prediction based on the announced plans of Marvel Studios and has not been officially confirmed.
Armor Wars (fall of 2024)
Up to now, Marvel Studios has only confirmed one series in 2024, which is 18 episodes of Daredevil: Born Again. That is why we have reason to believe that the remaining 3 vacancies of 2024 are for the TV series to balance the number of movies in the period 5 and 6.
The first name to mention is probably Armor Wars, a series revolving around War Machine / James Rhodes, inspired by the series of the same name released in the 1980s. This project has been announced by Marvel Studios for many years. before, but mysteriously “disappeared” at the recent Comic-Con event. That made many fans worried that the production plan for Armor Wars was canceled.
However, recently, writer Yassir Lester has confirmed that this series will still be deployed as the original plan, albeit with a slight change in time. As expected, Armor Wars will begin shooting this fall, and will most likely air in 2024 because the MCU is “full of schedule” in 2023.
Wonder Man (fall of 2024)
Besides Shang-Chi 2, director Destin Daniel Cretton is also working with Marvel Studios to develop a project called Wonder Man – a series focusing on one of the strongest characters of the Avengers.
Wonder Man, whose real name is Simon Williams, is a failed businessman who is on his way to remake his life by becoming a Hollywood star and American superhero. According to some reports, Marvel Studios will build this movie in a more humorous and satirical way than other works they have ever released.
Wakanda Side Story (Winter 2024)
Fantastic Four will premiere on November 8, 2024, so the remaining position in the winter of 2024 will most likely belong to a TV series, because Marvel Studios rarely releases two movies in a row. And one of the most potential names is the Wakanda spinoff, developed by Ryan Cooger and focusing on Okoye (Danai Gurira), the leader of Dora Milaje.
This series will help the audience better understand the background as well as the training process to become one of Okoye’s strongest warriors Wakanda – the character loved by many audiences in Black Panther and 2 Avengers movies. Latest. Production of Wakanda spin-off will begin in 2023, so the release schedule at the end of 2024 is also quite reasonable.
Shang-Chi 2 (February 25, 2025)
After the Comic-Con event ended, Marvel Studios has confirmed a specific timeline for a movie project in phase 6 – that is, February 25, 2025. In December 2021, the studio also confirmed that it would co-produce the second part of Shang-Chi with Cretton director.
It wouldn’t be surprising if Shang-Chi 2 is the opening name for Marvel’s 2025, especially since this movie, despite being confirmed for production, is absent from Phase 5 of the MCU. In addition, the release of Shang-Chi 2 before Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is also quite reasonable, especially when the post-credits scene of Shang-Chi & the Legend of the Ten Rings “teases” about a danger most likely from another universe.
Nova (spring 2025)
Marvel has “green light” for Nova since 2019, and the script of this project is also being written by Sabir Pirzada, screenwriter of Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel, in charge. While it’s currently unclear whether Nova is a movie or a TV series, some previous reports suggest that Marvel is developing a “universe series” on Disney.
Marvel Studios is clearly facing huge ambition and pressure with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, especially after what Infinity War and Endgame have done. So it’s not difficult to understand if they bring Nova to the screen first to be able to prepare the best superhero force before entering the multiverse war in the 2 Avengers movies of 2025.
Namor the Sub-Mariner/Hercules/Black Knight/Ghost Rider (spring 2025)
With Marvel Studios releasing two feature films in February and May 2025, it is likely that the projects taking place during this time will all be TV series on Disney. However, the majority of production confirmed productions, such as Loki season 2 or Echo, have been scheduled for phase 5.
So, it’s time we turn to some other rumored projects, because the MCU currently owns a lot of different character lines that have only been “teased” or introduced. In particular, some prominent and capable names to own their own series include Namor the Sub-Mariner – who will appear in the blockbuster Black Panther: Wakanda Forever; Hercules – the new god appeared a few seconds in the credits of Thor: Love and Thunder; and Black Knight – Dane Whitman’s supporting character in Eternals. In addition, the anti-hero Ghost Rider is also a very notable name and has been the subject of a series of rumors related to the MCU over the years.
Whatever decision Marvel Studios makes, this is still a good opportunity for them to dig deeper into the new characters to prepare for the two Avengers movies at the end of phase 6.
Midnight Sons (Summer 2025)
Since Marvel Studios has confirmed to release a feature film in the summer of 2025, the remaining slot in this time period will probably belong to a TV series. Considering what happened in phase 4, it is not ruled out that they want to build a team of superheroes specializing in solving supernatural phenomena, with members like Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night and Blade. These superheroes can join forces to form the Midnight Sons team to fight mystical threats, protecting Earth while the Avengers are busy fighting Kang.
Deadpool 3 (July 25, 2025)
Marvel Studios is holding a lot of potential movies, such as Doctor Strange 3, X-Men or Thor 5. However, all of these works just stop at the level of rumors. Meanwhile, they have already confirmed the Deadpool 3 project since 2019, after Disney completed the acquisition of 20th Century Fox. But so far, this “muddy” mutant has not had the opportunity to reappear on the big screen.
Since Avengers: The Dynasty of Kang (released on May 2, 2025) is likely to delve deeper into the theme of the multiverse, Deadpool could completely come to the MCU from another reality. This will save Marvel Studios from needing to rebuild the origin story of Wade Wilson’s power, and also add a great member to the Avengers on the eve of the fierce Secret Wars.
