Part 2 of Black Panther is one of the few films released in 2022 to reach this milestone.
According to Deadline’s source, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever brought in an additional $9.6 million in revenue in the US over the weekend alone. This helped the part 2 of the hit movie Black Panther surpass the $300 million domestic box office mark.
One of the reasons why Black Panther 2 earned so much money over the weekend is said to be because Thanksgiving is approaching, audiences are excited about the holiday time and eager to see more theaters. Notably, Black Panther part 2 is the 7th movie to do this in 2022. Other films that have passed this memorable milestone are The Batman, Top Gun: Maverick, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Jurassic World: Dominion, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Minions: The Rise of Gru.
Although Black Panther 2 is going a long way, longer than other Marvel movies, Thor: Love and Thunder, the movie is still having a pretty close box of sales with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness released in May. via.
Initially, the film was supposed to be able to surpass Doctor Strange’s box office in the US, but it ended up opening $6 million less than critics had predicted. For a closer comparison, Doctor Strange’s first 12 days gross is $302.7 million, while Black Panther 2’s is $303.7 million. This means that Black Panther is slightly ahead (specifically, $ 1 million) compared to “elder”. Currently, Marvel is also expecting the film to continue the legacy of the original in 2018 by continuing to dominate the US domestic box office in particular and worldwide in general from now until the end of the year.
If Black Panther can continue its current form, the film can completely take its place, becoming the highest-grossing movie in the Cinematic Universe this year.
There are many factors that make the new Marvel movie predicted with high revenue. The first reason is that the number of pre-booked tickets is quite large. Since before the movie was officially released, the number of tickets booked in advance has surpassed even the “elder” with the MCU Thor: Love and Thunder. With this ticket alone, the film has grossed $45 million even though it hasn’t been released yet.
The second reason given is actually a bit more tragic. That’s why many fans are curious about how the film will continue without the main character played by Chadwick Boseman. Moreover, the fact that the producers confirmed that part 2 will be a tribute to this actor also makes fans want to go to the cinema to watch more.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is currently playing in cinemas nationwide.
