Kodoani.om – The official Twitter account for Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara magazine announced on Friday that Aki Hamaji’s 4koma manga is Bocchi the Rock! has surpassed the 2 million mark in circulation following recent reissues of all five compiled volumes and the anthology manga.
This number is not a sales statistic and not all 2 million copies have been sold.
Hamaji launched the manga in Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Max magazine in December 2017, and the series is still ongoing. Houbunsha published the manga’s fifth volume on November 26.
The manga’s story follows Hitori “Bocchi-chan” (“Loner loner”) Gotō, a lonely high school girl whose heart lies in her guitar. She does nothing every day except strum the guitar by herself at home. However, one day she runs into Nijika Ijichi, who is looking for a guitarist for her group called “Kessoku Band”.
The manga got an anime adaptation on October 9, last year.
