Recently, US-based mobile analytics company Data.ai released a report on China’s top 30 game publishers.
This published list is based on a review of game studios by overseas revenue for March 2022. The top three positions are again held by ByteDance, JOYY and Tencent.
The combo matches all monthly listings since the first list was released last November. QuVideo ranked 9th, up 9 places compared to the previous year.
Specifically, the top 10 listed game companies with the highest sales overseas include JOYY, Tencent, iReader Technology, Newborn Town, Meitu, iQiyi, BlueCity, Baidu, COL Digital Publishing and Kuaishou.
The 30 game publishers on the list can basically be divided into three categories, including social entertainment services, games and online literature.
In addition, Data.ai awarded the Top Game Distributor Award 2022, in which a list of 52 units were honored, they have been established for 10 years. The company also publishes the earnings rankings for publishers in various continents and regions, as well as the revenue rankings of the Chinese game publishers that global developers are most interested in. .
Shares of Chinese game companies began to rise after being licensed to release again after being “freeze” for 9 months. The ban lasted for 9 months, causing game production and publishing activities in China to be delayed, causing great damage to game makers. After 263 days, this activity was approved but still to a limited extent.
Game licensing has a positive effect on companies’ stocks. For example, Tencent increased NetEase 6%. The best results are shown in Bilibili Inc when increasing up to 15%.
At the same time, the government does not include Tencent and NetEase games on the list of approved games. Analysts predict that both companies will remain under pressure for a while at least for now, as these are the two big game companies in mainland China. A similar situation happened after the 2018 ban.
