The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will cost up to $70, surprising fans.
Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 were just revealed on Wednesday, with publisher Activision confirming that both games will launch on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC via Battle.net and Steam. The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 release date is October 28, 2022, while Warzone 2.0 will arrive “later this year”. Activision also revealed both versions of the game will launch as a Cross-Gen priced at $70 and a Vault Edition priced at $100.
Both come with versions for older systems including PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and now the game is also giving players an early experience when pre-ordering. On PC, the standard version of the game is available at a price that is not cheap at all. As it stands, Activision’s official Modern Warfare 2 pre-order page and Xbox and PlayStation stores do not list older console versions.
It remains to be seen whether the separate PS4 and Xbox One versions will be cheaper when released in physical or digital form, it is unclear if this is Activision’s mistake or on purpose. On the first day of launch, Vault Edition owners will receive four playable characters including: Ghost, Farah, Price and Soap. In which each person wears a special masked costume.
Following the launch of Modern Warfare II, Vault Edition holders will receive a Season One Battle Pass and 50 Tier Skips (or equivalent) for free.
