Infinity Ward has confirmed they are developing two other blockbuster projects in the Call of Duty series.
Activision has officially confirmed both Call of Duty Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty Warzone 2. Warzone 2 is the sequel to the hugely successful free-to-play battle royale title that launched in 2020, coming at a great time. The epidemic broke out and attracted a lot of attention from the gaming community. Particularly, Call of Duty Modern Warfare II is the sequel to the 2019 launch that received many compliments from professional critics, especially as it marked the milestone of changing the spectacular makeover of the series to a new level.
With that said, Warzone’s solid foundation began to crack when the battle royale genre was incorporated into other Call of Duty titles. Therefore, Warzone 2 is said to have been remade from the ground up with the aim of building a game with more long-term sustainability. Gameplay bugs, performance issues, cheats, and lack of features like the FOV feature on consoles have frustrated the community for years, but it looks like Activision is working to remedy the situation. this state.
During a press event attended by CharlieIntel, Infinity Ward chief operating officer Pat Kelly confirmed both Call of Duty Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2. Both titles will be developed by Infinity Ward and built by on a completely new engine. Just like the first game, Modern Warfare II will also serve as the foundation for the Warzone successor. The publisher is planning to combine Warzone 2 with Modern Warfare II, but it doesn’t appear to be out yet. The first Warzone launched about five months after Modern Warfare, so it’s possible once again to expect a similar launch.
Details about both projects are being kept under wraps, but it’s been confirmed that Modern Warfare II is coming this fall and that the new Warzone experience will include an ambitious sandbox mode. Kelly also stated that Warzone 2 will be “exciting”, but did not share anything else. While nothing particularly shocking, Activision is starting the marketing cycle for its follow-up projects earlier than usual, which could indicate the scale and expectations for this year’s product launches.
Many rumors suggest that Call of Duty Modern Warfare II could release in October, a month before the usual November release date. With all the leaks around, Infinity Ward and Activision might want to grab restore the confidence of the gaming community after the disappointment of Call of Duty: Vanguard. While unconfirmed, more details are likely to come and the first game for Call of Duty Modern Warfare II will launch this summer. As for Warzone 2, it’s unclear when fans will be able to hear more, but it looks like the development team wants to share more in the future.
