Five Nights at Freddy suddenly announced the latest installment from the popular horror game series in the past PlayStation Showcase.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted 2 was just revealed during the PlayStation Showcase. The burgeoning survival horror series was first released in August 2014 and includes 9 main installments, 9 spinoffs and even an upcoming Five Nights at Freddy movie. These games are known for their infamous jump scares, suspenseful gameplay and the main character – the mascot Freddy Fazbear.
The last game in the main series is in late 2021 when Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach is released. Several versions of that game came out in late 2022 (Xbox) and early 2023 (Switch), which makes the game still relevant today. Not to mention, a free Ruin DLC for FNAF: Security Breach is still coming in July 2023 for those who want to experience more of the franchise’s addictive gameplay. However, it looks like a new installment in the series will launch later this year, according to the PlayStation Showcase.
The trailer shown during the trailer confirms that Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted 2 is coming to PS VR2 in 2023. The game appears to be a direct sequel to the PS VR original Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted. While no in-game details were released, Help Wanted was originally more of a collection of several mini-games that recreated the mechanics of older titles. This could imply that gamers can expect more of the similar, if not improved, versions of these subgames in the context of PS VR2.
The trailer is a short one-minute video welcoming the user back from the first game, further reinforcing the idea that the player will be the same character as in the first Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted. The video maintains the same feel as the other installments in the series, with upgraded graphics. When the short trailer ends, we know the title of the game, along with a final scare. The words “Late 2023” appeared on the screen to confirm the expected release time for the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s.
Some fans consider Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted to be one of the best horror games for modern platforms, so a sequel to the game isn’t too far off. With graphics that could be improved and the first installment as a springboard from that, Help Wanted 2 could be a surprise hit to the series and could also help give PS VR2 more unique experiences. Five Nights at Freddy’s is sure to make a lot of noise this year if its IP-related releases are considered.
