Luffy’s power is increasing, can he beat Rayleigh in One Piece?
The power gap between Luffy and Rayleigh has been around for a long time. Even so, the Shadow King trained Luffy until he became stronger.
After fighting against enemies like Katakuri with Kaido, Luffy’s power continued to increase. While in Wano, he begins to use high level Conqueror Haki, will Luffy be able to defeat Rayleigh if they have a duel?
The battle between Rayleigh and Luffy probably won’t happen, because of their teacher-disciple relationship, and Luffy seems to have a lot of respect for Rayleigh. Even so, it’s also interesting to analyze who wins in battle now.
1. Rayleigh’s Weakness That Luffy Can Take Advantage Of
When fighting Kizaru in One Piece chapter 513, Rayleigh said that he is not young anymore, this is a weakness that will give Luffy a chance to defeat him.
There’s a moment when Rayleigh fights Kizaru in One Piece chapter 513, where he says he’s not young anymore. Rayleigh seems to be having the same problem as Whitebeard. He was still very strong, but compared to before, Rayleigh’s speed and stamina had dropped a lot.
It should be remembered that Rayleigh is even older than Kaido with Big Mom. His age after the timeskip is 78, Big Mom is 68, Kaido is 59.
This is the weakness that will give Luffy a chance to win. If he had fought Rayleigh when he was young, it would have been more difficult than now.
2. Rayleigh’s Scary
Rayleigh’s experience and mastery of Haki make him very dangerous, despite his age, Rayleigh can still stop someone with combat speed like light.
Although Rayleigh was old, he was still able to stop Kizaru from attacking the Straw Hats. He then held him off until Kizaru was truly unable to continue hunting the Straw Hats. So, despite his age, Rayleigh is still fast enough to stop someone with combat speed like light!
This is truly a miracle! At Marineford, Kizaru was pointed at by Benn Beckman with a gun and warned him not to move half a step, but just as Beckman was caught off guard for a moment, Kizaru moved again. Meanwhile, while being held by Rayleigh, he really couldn’t leave the fight.
Kizaru couldn’t even go where Kuma fought the Straw Hats. Unsurprisingly, both Garp and Kizaru seem reluctant to fight Rayleigh with no prior preparation.
Another factor that Luffy should watch out for is Rayleigh’s experience and ability to master Haki. If we read chapter 1013, when Luffy started to be able to use high level Conqueror Haki, he recklessly attacked Kaido, and was defeated by him. This is based on Kaido’s dialogue when Luffy fell from Onigashima.
He himself is known for his impulsiveness in battle. Rayleigh is a proficient user of all three types of Haki. I even think he is calmer than Kaido or Big Mom in combat.
Although Luffy is strong, I guess Rayleigh will be able to take advantage of his small mistakes to defeat Luffy. Furthermore, Rayleigh is very experienced in combat, as he was once a member of Roger’s crew. Rayleigh will anticipate Luffy’s tricks.
3. Luffy’s strength will help him deal with Rayleigh
Since Luffy has now mastered all three types of Haki in One Piece, he won’t be easily defeated by Rayleigh, if both characters fight seriously.
Luffy can now use high level Conqueror Haki. Even his power when he first fought against Kaido split the sky in half.
In terms of destructive power, Luffy is currently able to reach the rank of Yonko due to his mastery of Ryuo and his ability to use high-level Conqueror Haki. Also, since defeating Katakuri, his Observation Haki has also improved.
His mastery of the three types of Haki made it so that Luffy wouldn’t be easily defeated by Rayleigh if they fought seriously. I even think that if Rayleigh and Luffy collide, the sky will split because their powers are starting to balance.
4. So can Luffy beat Rayleigh now?
Right now, if it’s one-on-one I think Rayleigh will still win, especially if it’s a practice battle, because Luffy won’t mind if he loses.
In my opinion, currently, the strength of Rayleigh and Kaido is not much different. So if Luffy fought Rayleigh, the outcome could be the same as when he fought Kaido.
Luffy will cause trouble for Rayleigh, just like he did to Kaido. It’s just that if Luffy makes the slightest mistake, Rayleigh will take advantage of it and make him pass out. Kaido can do this, and I think Rayleigh can too.
If it’s one-on-one, I think Rayleigh still wins. Especially if it’s a practice battle, because Luffy won’t mind if he loses.
To defeat Rayleigh, he might have to gather as many people as he did against the current Kaido. Kaido only started to weaken after being attacked by the Nine Red Baos, several members of the Worst Generation, Yamato, and Momonosuke.
Rayleigh can only weaken if he is attacked by the Straw Hats and Luffy’s other allies. However, given Rayleigh’s age and since he is a normal person without a Devil Fruit, Rayleigh’s toughness is probably not as good as Kaido’s. There are indications that Kaido is not a normal human being, then he is given an increase in strength by the mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit. Therefore, Kaido’s body must be much stronger than Rayleigh’s.
That is the theory of whether Luffy can defeat Rayleigh in One Piece now. Later when Luffy becomes stronger, he will defeat his own teacher. Especially if Luffy awakens the Devil Fruit. That would give him new techniques to fight Rayleigh.
