Capcom officially revealed the Capcom Fighting Collection, a collection of famous classic fighting games that have never been released outside of Japan.
More than 35 years since the release of the first Street Fighter game in 1987, Capcom has become one of the giants of the fighting game world. Between the massive success of staple franchises like the iconic Street Fighter and the partnership with one of the world’s biggest publishers with Marvel vs. Capcom, this Japanese developer has cemented its position as a giant in fighting games. Recently when Street Fighter celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2022, Capcom officially announced the Capcom Fighting Collection as a tribute to the company’s many lesser known fighting game franchises in the world.
Over the years, Capcom has produced plenty of classic fighting games beyond the Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom is widely recognized. Capcom’s gothic horror series Darkstalkers was a hit classic when it debuted on arcade and home consoles in the late 1990s, and Red Earth is little known to gamers today. came was also a popular title following its 1996 release. Now, with one of Capcom’s oldest franchises hitting its big anniversary this year, Capcom kicked off the celebration by launched a game collection that not only featured Street Fighter but also a wide variety of fighting games, including some that were released to the world for the first time.
The Capcom Fighting Collection was officially revealed yesterday via Capcom’s official YouTube channel and includes ten games from the Street Fighter and Darkstalkers series, as well as the previously mentioned Red Earth. This remarkable collection will be the first to allow Vampire Hunter 2: Darkstalkers’ Revenge and Vampire Savior 2: The Lord of Vampire to be released to a world that was previously exclusive to Japan. .
Capcom has also made several announcements regarding the improvements being made to the games included in the Capcom Fighting Collection. This collection will include a full library of official art and design materials for ten games along with additional small settings like mid-game save and “EX Settings”. Every game in the collection will also include Ranked and Casual modes for gamers to compete online. Capcom also emphasized that these fighting games will all have netcode rollbacks when the collection releases on June 24.
For many of the franchises featured in the Capcom Fighting Collection, the upcoming compilation will be their first new release in a few years. Darkstalkers hasn’t had a new game since Darkstalkers Resurrection was released as a compilation of the two previous Darkstalkers games in 2013, while Red Earth was never released outside of the first arcade version of Darkstalkers. it. Street Fighter is already iconic among Capcom’s game series, so the Capcom Fighting Collection will look like an homage to Capcom’s past as Street Fighter evolves and moves into the future.
