Capcom has announced that their current generation updates for Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7 are available today.
Each update includes new generation features including 4K support, improved frame rates and Ray-Tracing. It also includes 3D surround sound, supporting a more immersive experience while playing, according to Capcom. All three updates are available today for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
Players who already own any game on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One can upgrade to the current-generation version for free through the digital upgrade program on PS5 or Smart Delivery on Xbox Series X/S.
An updated patch will also be available to PC users, so they can tweak their version to match. Both the Resident Evil 7 and the Resident Evil 2 remake have received extremely positive reviews, with both games being seen as spectacular comebacks to the hit horror franchise.
However, the remake of Resident Evil 3 was not loved by the critics. This is partly because the remake’s changes to the original game are so different. Capcom recently confirmed that a Resident Evil 4 remake is in development and is scheduled to release on March 24, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. According to Capcom, the Resident Evil 4 remake will keep the essence of the original game, while “introducing modernized gameplay, reimagined storyline, and vividly detailed graphics”.
