The Bloody Adventures of Denji / Chainsaw Man continued in Volume 8, with the second half of “International Assassins” having all the elements of violence, humor, heartbreaking plot, and terrifying monsters that made this series a bestseller. best run. This time Denji has to confront the most powerful demons of all, possibly even putting the Gun Demon to shame.
Denji and his allies face new enemies from all directions, including the deadly female assassin Quanxi and the mysterious “Santa Claus” who is nothing more than a funny old man in a red suit. . In Vol. 8, Denji soon fights his enemies in true style at Makima’s orders – but that may not be a completely good thing.
Denji might think Quanxi is the most feared enemy, but Chainsaw Man Vol. 8 chapters of quickly prove him wrong. One of the assassins, a dark-haired woman whom Tolka only knows as “Master”, identifies herself as the true villain of the installment and sets her traps in a brutal fashion. She is the real Santa Claus, and the old man everyone assumes is just one of her dolls, a decoy.
Santa Claus leaves the battlefield of the department store and makes a deal with the Devil of Hell, one of the most powerful demons, and sacrifices four people – including the fake Santa – to teleport most of it. her enemies into Hell itself. Therefore, Santa Claus fits the “evil scarecrow” theme, and no one is safe from conspiracies. Even great power cannot stop her.
Through Tolka’s doll body, Santa makes another deal with the fearsome Demon of Darkness, gaining the power of darkness itself. Even when Denji and the survivors returned to Earth from Hell, Santa Claus became too powerful for most heroes to handle. She can survive any blow in the dark, and can quickly heal her peculiar new body. When night falls, even Quanxi and her fearsome Devil powers can’t take down Santa, but Denji can. He shows real grit and, on Makima’s orders, rushes into battle like a war dog, accomplishing a new trick. Denji’s loyalty is commendable as he sets himself on fire against Santa’s dark powers – but it’s also unsettling.
With Quanxi’s help, Denji deals a severe blow to Santa Claus’s shadow-enhanced body, knocking her down with a chainsaw and the light from the flaming body. Denji’s stubborn loyalty to Makima stems from his personal concern for her, but her actions in Episode 8 make it clear that he has a truly forgiving master. The mind is directing you. Just moments after Quanxi’s henchman Cosmo blasted Santa’s mind with a mental attack, Makima arrives with a sword in hand. Quanxi surrenders, only to have Makima behead her and her minions without remorse or hesitation. Yoshida and Kishibe had blindfolds nearby, and especially the latter couldn’t stand it anyway.
Once again Denji and Makima make a good team, doing their best to support each other. However, Makima may have an ulterior motive and it may take a long time to see it implemented. She never sets her eyes on the deaths of her friends or enemies, and is in the perfect position to exploit Denji’s dog-like loyalty to her.
As Chainsaw Man continues, there’s a chance Makima will either betray Denji or manipulate him into performing real villainous deeds on her behalf. He is ready to set himself on fire to destroy Makima’s enemies and will probably do whatever she tells him. Santa may have gone down, but Denji isn’t safe yet. He may never.
