INTERNATIONAL_ As a country with many famous phone companies, Chinese people still love and prefer iPhones from the US.
iPhone continues to resurgence in China as the most searched smartphone in the country. According to the latest Counterpoint Research figures, iPhone accounted for 23.6% of phone sales in the mainland in November 2021, up from 22% in October of the same year.
The numbers also show that the iPhone has maintained its market leadership position for two consecutive months in China. Chinese smartphone brand vivo follows Apple with 17.8% market share.
Chinese people love iPhone
The impressive numbers can be attributed to a number of reasons, one of the most notable being the launch of the iPhone 13 series with great reception in China.
The iPhone 13 series features improved cameras and photography, longer battery life, and a number of other improvements for the same price as the iPhone 12.
Other iPhone models have also had a great run in the highly competitive China market, which is packed with domestic, high-end and flagship brands.
iPhone is a popular product in all segments of society
The increase in iPhone sales in November is not related to China’s Singles Day during the month of big sales. Counterpoint Research predicts Apple’s “iPhone bubble” to decline from January 2022 as the majority of older iPhone users may have ended up upgrading their devices.
Counterpoint also attributes the rise of Apple’s iPhone to the decline and problems of Huawei, which had forecast the company’s revenue to be significantly underestimated. Some other leading Chinese brands such as OPPO, Xiaomi, and vivo are also suffering from harsh sanctions from the US.
However, the overall performance of last year’s Q4 so far shows Vivo holding a 23% market share, with Apple coming in at 5th with 13%. While the full Q4 numbers are yet to be released, Apple’s overall position has dropped somewhat.
