With a 0-2 loss to GAM Esports, SBTC Esports officially closed the journey in VCS Spring 2022 with 5th place overall. This means that the team once again lost the opportunity to participate in the playoffs.
Since appearing in the top League of Legends tournament in Vietnam, SE has spent 3 seasons with many expectations, but the final result has not been able to satisfy the team’s large fan base. Although it still shows the familiar instability, “Pink Chicken” actually has a few bright spots that fans can look forward to.
Return of Dia1
If there are no surprises, the VCS Mid laner star in the 2020-21 period will officially return to the SE lineup from the 2022 Summer Split. After being banned for a year for being involved in “nighting” behavior, Dia1 is very ready to return to the professional scene.
Despite being out of the game for a long time, it is clear that Dia1’s talent is undisputed. Therefore, it will not take too long for this player to catch up with the rhythm of the competition in VCS. Spot’s case is a prime example, even though he hasn’t played in VCS for 2 years, this Jungler also has stable performances when he returns.
Compared to rookie 2T, Dia1 is clearly a much more prestigious name. With his experience playing in big teams like EVOS, GAM, this player will help SE have a lot of upgrades. Besides, having 2 players in the Mid lane also helps Coach Sergh have more tactical calculations. While 2T also has a large enough counterweight to strive for a main hit.
There will be no comprehensive blood changes like early 2022
Compared to the previous two failed seasons, the current SE version will not have comprehensive blood changes. The frame with Nper, DNK, Pallette… will still be the same during the Summer period. Therefore, this will be the first season that SE has a stable squad, from which there is a basis to hope for progress.
After a season of getting to know each other, the current members have also gradually understood each other and have a certain degree of cohesion. Therefore, the lack of changes will help SE be able to compete with the teams in the top 4, which have not had many roster changes during the past time.
With the current lineup, SE has clearly shown that view is towards the long term. The trust in young players such as Nper, 2T and partly Vinboiz shows that the team’s management has great faith in the future. And the 5th place result in the current season can be seen as a stepping stone for this squad to have a more impressive season.
In this season, SE has also shown many times that they are a team that can challenge any opponent. However, the poor distribution of performance points in the parallel phase of the SEA Games Qualifiers made SE lose many points in the first leg. Therefore, this will be a valuable experience for the whole team to learn and improve for a much-awaited season ahead.
