The top developer of TitanReach allegedly used the investment fund to buy cryptocurrency and bought a Tesla. The TitanReach MMO project has fallen into crisis after crisis since launching its first Kickstarter in 2020, and now it seems to have come to an end when a YouTuber close to the project’s author alleges that the developer The developer misappropriated investor funds to buy cryptocurrency and even bought a Tesla for personal use.
TitanReach is a “Runescape-like” MMO that ultimately fell short of its original Kickstarter goal of $430,000. Undeterred, the developers, Square Root Studios, adopted the crowdfunding model and saw continued interest from the gaming community. In the end, the $200,000 Square Root received in crowdfunding was not enough to sustain the project and the developer with the username “Unravel” announced the end of development on the title on the game’s Discord. in August 2021.
The following month, Unravel returned to Discord to announce that the game had been fully funded by an anonymous “angel” investor and that development would continue.
