The top developer of TitanReach allegedly used the investment fund to buy cryptocurrency and bought a Tesla. TitanReach is a “Runescape-like” MMO that ultimately fell short of its original Kickstarter goal of $430,000. Undeterred, the developers, Square Root Studios, adopted the crowdfunding model and saw continued interest from the gaming community. In the end, the $200,000 Square Root received in crowdfunding was not enough to sustain the project and the developer with the username “Unravel” announced the end of development on the title on the game’s Discord. in August 2021.
The following month, Unravel returned to Discord to announce that the game had been fully funded by an anonymous “angel” investor and that development would continue.
