Cyberpunk 2077 sets a new record for online co-players on Steam, surpassing even Witcher 3.
Cyberpunk 2077’s player count has increased significantly on Steam recently. Despite a rocky start, CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 is slowly becoming the best RPG game available since its launch in 2020, and its player count has surpassed The Witcher 3 – RPG monument of the CDPR. Although the game left a weak initial impression due to issues with bugs and lack of mechanics and features, CDPR turned the tide with the release of the Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime and new content for the game. As a result, the number of Cyberpunk 2077 players increased rapidly in a short period of time.
Witcher 3’s one-time peak online player count was 103,329 on Steam, while Cyberpunk 2077’s number has grown to 117,872 and shows no signs of slowing down. Currently, Cyberpunk 2077’s online concurrent player count has not yet reached the previous record of 1,054,388, but has surpassed The Witcher 3 two years after its release, demonstrating the game’s rise from the ashes. Players return to Cyberpunk 2077 after Edgerunners, the anime set in the game’s universe, was released on September 13 on Netflix. A week after the anime premiered, CD Projekt Red noted that one million players had actually set foot in Night City daily throughout the week.
