A new game in the Alien series, Aliens: Dark Descent, was announced for release in 2023 during the Summer Game Fest.
Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest 2022 event has kicked off with excitement with the announcement of a brand new game in the Alien series called Aliens: Dark Descent. The game will once again put the main characters on a survival chase with the mysterious and deadly Xenomorphs. Aliens: Dark Descent has been confirmed to be coming to both PC and console platforms with a release timeframe of 2023. The game’s reveal during Summer Game Fest included a cinematic trailer and one a glimpse of the gameplay.
Aliens: Dark Descent will tell a brand new story, focusing on a new group of protagonists who will have to face multiple Xenomorphs at once in a new scenario. The game, described as being in the third-person action genre, will combine both the horror elements of 2014’s Alien: Isolation and the more combat-heavy gameplay of 2021’s Aliens: Fireteam Elite. chance to lead a team of Marines, who will be forced to fight against a horde of giant Xenomorphs that want to devour them whole.
Aliens: Dark Descent is co-developed by Focus Entertainment, 20th Century Fox Games and Tindalos Interactive. 20th Century Fox Games previously worked on Alien: Covenant in Utero on Steam in 2017, a sequel to 2017’s Alien: Covenant. Focus Entertainment has worked on previous Alien titles including Fireteam Elite, while Tindalos Interactive is an independent developer based in France, best known for Battlefield Gothic, a series of strategy games set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
The Alien series started out as a classic horror film in 1979 and has grown into a massive series that includes novels, comic books, games, and real-world attractions like amusement parks. The history of the Alien video game goes back a long time, starting with a Pac-Man-style game inspired by the original movie, then continuing to evolve into the modern day with more than a dozen games.
