Dragon Ball Daima’s release date and episode number were revealed by Toei Animation’s localization director on October 26.
In an interview with Spanish media outlet Produ, Daniel Castañeda revealed that Dragon Ball Daima’s release date is October 2024. Although this is not an official announcement, Castañeda is an official. verified position of Toei, serving as localization director for the English and Spanish dubbed versions of The First Slam Dunk, as well as the Portuguese versions of Dragon Ball Z, One Piece Film Gold and Samurai Champloo according to information recorded from ANN. In his reveal, Castañeda discussed the typical anime dubbing process before revealing that the dubbed version of Dragon Ball Daima will launch simultaneously worldwide. Produ also stated that the series will have 20 episodes.
“Usually all of our productions premiere in Japan and then about six months later we release them internationally,” Castañeda said. 26 episodes to start dubbing and everything else; We can then release them in other territories. This is the first time we’ve launched a series worldwide at the same time. Production is already underway and I estimate we will be finished around May next year. We are starting dubbing for a worldwide release in October 2024. For public television, we will most likely launch in January 2025″.
Dragon Ball Daima was officially announced at New York Comic Con on October 13, 2023, along with an official trailer. It was previously reported that Daima will be released in fall 2024 as an ONA (original animation) web series to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball. Castañeda’s comments provide more clarity on the release timing as well as the fact that Dragon Ball Daima will have a future television release in January 2025. Dragon Ball Daima was revealed to be canon, unlike like Dragon Ball GT, which similarly saw the main cast switch to children but is not considered a part of Dragon Ball continuity.
Dragon Ball manga creator Akira Toriyama provided some insight into what fans can expect from Dragon Ball Daima, revealing: “Since Goku has to compensate for his small size, he uses his Power Pole to fight, something that hasn’t been seen in a long time. I came up with the story and the setting as well as a lot of the design. I’m actually putting more into this than usual. Everything will happen close to the mysteries of Dragon Ball World. Hope you all enjoy these unusual, cute and powerful battles.”
The official synopsis for Dragon Ball Daima reads: “Due to a conspiracy, Goku and his friends are turned small. To fix things, they will go to a new world! It is a grand adventure with intense action in an unknown and mysterious world.”
